    Fifth Grade

    Mrs. Embry

    Dear Pattengill Families,
My name is Marie Embry and I am one of the fifth grade teachers. I’m so excited to be starting this year with fifth graders. I am very fond of this community, the families, and the students. I chose to stay at Pattengill all of these years because of that. Working with children is a passion of mine and I look forward to a new school
    year!

I have lived in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti since college. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Michigan. During my 4 years there, I never missed a home football game! GO BLUE! After starting my teaching career, I enrolled at Eastern Michigan University and earned my Master’s Degree in Reading. I am married to my creative husband, Brent and we have a son and daughter. Both of our children are making their way through Ann Arbor Public Schools. We also have a rescue dog that makes sure to alert the family to every Prime, FedEx, and UPS truck that makes its way down our street! When I am not busy teaching or keeping up with my family, I
love to bake and read (mysteries are my favorite).

It is my goal every year to make sure that each student in my class feels welcomed and safe. Students spend many hours a day together and if they feel safe and cared for, I feel that opens the door to taking risks in their learning. I think of teaching as a passion of mine and I hope to instill a love for learning in my students.

I strongly believe that the student, the parent, and the teacher are a team. I want to work with you and your child to be successful this year and to make it a great one.

    Marie Embry
