    schools to watch

Clague Middle School has recently been designated as a "School to Watch"

by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform!

To achieve Schools to Watch designation, a middle school must demonstrate that it has met the following criteria:

    1. It is academically excellent and challenges all students.

    2. It is developmentally responsive and sensitive to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescents.

    3. The school is socially equitable, democratic and fair, providing all students with high-quality teachers, resources and supports.

    4. The school has norms, structures and organizational arrangements to support and sustain its path toward excellence.

Clague Middle School will receive recognition at a special school ceremony and at the National Forum Schools to Watch Conference in Washington, D.C. in June.

"Clague Middle School is a wonderful place for middle grade youth to grow, learn, and explore. Students are happy and behave as learners. The climate of caring is obvious from the moment the students enter the building. Students are set-up for success with supports, prompts and encouragement. Classrooms had clear learning objectives. The building is spacious providing ample space for special needs. Minimal class time is spent dealing with discipline issues and everyone understands that there is a focus on learning." --Quote from Schools to Watch report

    #positivesigns campaign!

During the 2017-2018 school year, we are hoping to INSPIRE Clague Middle School to increase a positive and success-oriented learning environment.

Each Thursday, different staff members along with Mr. Carter and Ms. Daddow will have a sign with a new saying to help remind everyone how important you are to the Clague community.  Principals and staff members may be asking you to take pictures with the sign throughtout the year, so please give us your best smiles.

Our main goal is to get a picture of EVERY student and staff member with a sign this year.  Any picture that is taken could possibly show up on Clague's Twitter page!

So There Is A New Day (STAND)

This year, STAND, the Clague recycling team, will continue to recycle in the cafeteria.  Every day after lunch, STAND volunteers sort recyclable items out of the trash.  You can help by remembering to recycle items such as empty bottles and cans instead of throwing them away.
