Mrs. Gibbs

My name is Marcia Ponce Gibbs and I will have the pleasure of being your child’s teacher.  I look forward to getting to know both your child and your family.  I would like to take this opportunity to share some of my history and personal views of teaching.

I have taught for over 20 years for Ann Arbor Public Schools.  I have taught Chapter One (now called Title One), enrichment, kindergarten, first, second and third grades.  I received my bachelor’s degree in education at Arizona Western College and Eastern Michigan University.  I received my master’s degree from Marygrove College.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time and traveling with my husband and daughter Jessica.  Many of our travels involve going to Arizona, California and Colorado to visit my very large Mexican-American family.  Incidentally, you child will be learning how to greet, count and say short phrases in Spanish. My love of children and teaching is the driving force that motivates me each day.  I believe that each child brings to class his unique talents, gifts and challenges.
