    The Ann Arbor Public School District offers a variety of summer programs. Many of the programs are designed for students who would benefit from added educational support during the summer months.

  • Extended School Year (ESY) Services at King Elementary

    ESY – Extended School Year services are offered to K-12 Special Education students with IEPs who were found eligible for services. ESY services are provided to special education students to support the maintenance of skills and services as determined by the IEP team.
    Dates and time:  July 2 – July 27 (no class July 4), Monday–Thursday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at King Elementary.

    Preschool Extended School Year (ESY) Services

    ESY services will be provided to preschool students who are identified per their IEP as needing ESY services.  Dates and time:  July 2 – July 27 (no class July 4), Monday–Thursday from 9:00 am– 12:00 pm, at the Westerman Preschool & Family Center.

    Services will be provided for Early On (0 -3 years of age). The preschool staff will contact parents individually. The Early On services will be provided from July 5 - August 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Call Dr. Elaine Brown at 994-2318 if you have questions.

    Title I Summer School at Scarlett

    AAPS & U of M School of Education Partnership

    Title I eligible students (rising 6th, 7th, & 8th,) recommended by administration from Allen, Burns Park, Carpenter, Mitchell, Pattengill, Pittsfield and Scarlett will be supported in targeted reading, math and writing curriculum. Dates and time:  July 9 – July 27, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am- 1:00 pm.

    • Parent Orientation: May 30, 6:00 pm at Scarlett
    • End of Program Celebration: July 26, 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Title III Summer School at Scarlett

    AAPS & U of M School of Education Partnership

    This program is for Title III eligible English Language Learners (ELL) who will be in grades 4 – 8 in the fall. This session is available to students from Allen, Mitchell, Carpenter, Pittsfield, Dicken, Lakewood, Lawton, Abbot, Haisley, Wines, Angell, Burns Park, Pattengill, Scarlett and Tappan. Students will improve their reading, writing and speaking English through participation in an integrated science/social studies unit that emphasizes listening, speaking, reading and writing about informational text.

    Dates and time:  July 10 – July 28, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, and includes breakfast and lunch. Students eligible for free or reduced lunch during the school year will be eligible for this summer program. For more information call Ms. Brandy Kline at 734-997-1221.

     


    Title III Summer School at Thurston

    For English Language Learners

    Thurston Elementary will have an ELL summer program for currently enrolled 3rd – 5th grade students from the Clague feeder schools (Logan, Thurston, King and A2 STEAM).  Dates and time:  June 19 – June 30, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.  This program will partner with the Leslie Science Center for daily science lessons and activities that will focus on acquiring grade level vocabulary and concepts while improving listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.



    Title III Summer School at Slauson

    For English Language Learners

    This summer program is for AAPS students from the Clague, Forsythe and Slauson attendance areas who have completed grades 5-8 and are eligible for ELL services.   Dates and time:  June 21 – July 11 (no class July 3 & 4).  Classes are Monday – Friday, 9:00 am –  3:00 pm. The program will concentrate on reading, writing, speaking, listening, math, social studies, and science, and will include special projects and one field trip, with a thematic approach evolving around science.   • Summer Music Program

    The Ann Arbor Public Schools Music Program is available to all levels of instrumental music students, rising grades 6-12, open to all students wanting to enroll. Classes include Band, Drumline, Jazz, Orchestra, and a New Instrument class for those students who desire instruction on a different instrument than the one they are currently playing.  Dates and times: class dates vary between June 19-July 27, with no class July 4th. Classes meet 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday). See class descriptions with dates and times on the website.

    Pathways & Summer GED Preparation Class

    Enrollment for summer GED classes begin on Wednesday, July 5 at 11:30 am. Registration will be held at the Malletts Creek Library located at 3090 E. Eisenhower Parkway in Ann Arbor. Class begins on July 5; class times are Monday and Wednesday, 11:30 am-2:30 pm.

    • All classes and testing are Free
    • There is a $15 deposit for the textbook
    • You do not need to be a resident of Ann Arbor to participate

    The summer High School Completion program will be held June 26- August 3. Classes will be held at the Pathways to Success Academic Campus from 11:30 am-2:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Registration is on June 21 (10:00 am-12:00 pm) and June 22 (12:00 pm-2:00 pm). Classes are $150 per class; limited scholarships are available.

    The Pathways to Success Summer School and Leadership Academy will be held from June 26-August 3. Classes will be held at the Pathways to Success Academic Campus, 8:00 am-12:00 pm; lunch will be provided.
