Other Board Responsibilities (Appointed Positions)

  • Box Tops Coordinator:  Coordinate the BoxTops for Education program; collect, count and mail labels to General Mills; increase awareness of this program.

    Bulletin Board Coordinator:  Update PTO bulletin board as needed; maintain a current calendar of school events.

    Email Coordinator:  Manage email list; collate PTO email announcements and forward on to the Pittsfield parent and teacher community.

    Hospitality Chair:  Coordinate refreshments and other forms of hospitality for events at school such as the PTO Welcome Breakfast, Kindergarten Round-up and Staff Appreciation luncheon.

    Merchandise Coordinator:  Coordinate the sale of Pittsfield Penguin spirit wear; maintain inventory; set up and manage a sales table at select school events.

    Movie Night Coordinator:  Manage 3 family-friendly Movie Nights, which includes selecting the movie, announcing the event, coordinating ticket and concession sales, and operating the projector.

    Newsletter Editor:  Collaborate with principal and Pittsfield staff to create the monthly "Pittsfield Press" newsletters.

    PTO Thrift Shop Rep:  Increase awareness and encourage patronage of the PTO Thrift Shop; ensure the presence of Thrift Shop ads in PTO newsletters, backpack flyers, and the school directory; procure proceeds.

    Restaurant Night Coordinator:  Arrange multiple dinner events in which local restaurants agree to give a portion of their sales to the PTO; advertise the events and encourage the patronage of the restaurant by the Pittsfield community.

    Scrips Coordinator:  Promote, manage, collect money, and distribute gift cards purchased by families from the Great Lakes Scrip program. Great Lakes Scrips is a gift card purchase program where families buy gift cards from national retailers such as Starbucks and Old Navy. The PTO receives a portion of the sales of the gift cards.

    Website Manager:  Maintain the Pittsfield PTO website.

    Yearbook Adviser:  Assist in the creation of the annual Pittsfield yearbook; choose photos, layouts and text to create a finished product.
