Welcome to Student Intervention and Support Services (SISS)!
We are honored to provide assistance to students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community. We offer many services, supports and initiatives within the department.
Student Intervention and Support Services (SISS) department supports students with IEPs. This includes the thirteen IDEA areas of disabilities. We provide a continuum of services ranging from self-contained classrooms to resource room supports and full inclusion. SISS provide supports and services to children and young adults from birth to age 26. Ancillary supports include speech pathology, social work, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and psychologists. We also have a transition coordinator, a board certified behavior analyst, an Adaptive PE teacher, homebound teachers, and a district support team for behavior and nurses.
SISS also oversees the district Behavior Intervention Program. This program has eleven (11) assigned behavior intervention specialists for the 2017-2018 school year. The Behavior Intervention Specialists provide interventions and strategies to students to give them the skills and tools to increase positive appropriate behavior.
Lastly, SISS oversees the Disabilities Awareness Workshops. The workshops are provided to all elementary schools to increase knowledge and understanding of citizens with disabilities.
