Ms. Alison Hendricks
Alison Hendricks is entering her third year at Huron High School where she primarily works with the Varsity and Concert Bands. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Music Education and Trombone Performance where she studied trombone with Professor David Jackson.
At the University of Michigan, Ms. Hendricks was privileged to play with a large number of ensembles including the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Lab Jazz Ensemble, Trombone choir as well as various chamber groups. Ms. Hendricks also frequently worked with composers to collaborate on new works for small ensemble literature with trombone. During her education, she presented three joint recitals in addition to her solo senior recital. Ms. Hendricks was also the research assistant of Dr. Michael Hopkins for three years, and assisted his research in the areas of collaborative student composition and tuning.
In addition to her study of the trombone, Ms. Hendricks also studied voice. She enjoys songwriting primarily for voice and guitar. This summer, much of her energy was spent writing and recording her upcoming solo album. This is her second year leading the Liberty Street Praise Band at Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.
Ms. Hendricks also teaches fifth grade instrumental music at Angell Elementary School and Wines Elementary School. Outside of the school year, Ms. Hendricks teaches middle school students at the Scarlett Summer Music Academy.
In her free time, Ms. Hendricks loves to make, listen to, and discuss music with her friends, as well as travel around the country in her pursuit to find the perfect donut.
