     ABOUT THE LEAGUE
    WHO: All High School Volleyball players & teams, incoming grades 9-12 (Girls Varsity, Girls JV and Boys Leagues Available)
     
    WHEN: Tuesday night games June 4 - July 23, 2024 (no play July 2, 2024).
     
    WHERE: Games in Ann Arbor schools.
     
    COST: $475 per team (+ $3 per player fee for out-of-district players).

     TEAM REGISTRATION DATES
     All registrations for TEAMS will take place online on the dates listed below.

    There may be more than 1 division per league.  All registrations will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Registrants received after May 13 will be taken only until May 16, 2024 if space is available in their league.

    *Sponsor fee is the fee due at team registration (April 22- May 13, 2024).  *All teams pay the sponsor fee at registration to reserve their spot in the league, regardless of whether a team has a sponsor.
     
    **Non-resident fees apply to players who do not reside within AAPS district boundaries. 

    THERE IS NO “PLAYER FEE”. Captains sign up their team and divide the total cost among their players and substitutes as they wish. This arrangement will allow teams the convenience of adding subs without incurring undue additional costs.
     
    Due to remote office staff: Sponsor and team fees must be paid for with credit card (Mastercard, American Express, or Visa) Corporate Credit Cards will only be accepted with prior approval from the Finance Secretary (734-994-2300 ext. 53212).
     
    Rosters, team and non-resident fees are all due by 4:30 pm on Friday, May 31, 2024. Anything submitted after this date is charged a $2.00 per player "late fee".  Late fees are due at the time of submission.

     LEAGUE ORGANIZATION
     
    Each team will play six 3-set matches. Each match consists of 3 games to 25 with a cap of 27. All 3 games are played and all count in the standings. The league will be divided into “JV“ and “Varsity” divisions to ensure parity of competition. 
     SEASON DATES & LENGTHS
    Games are played on Tuesday evenings. The season will begin June 4 through July 23, 2024. Double-headers may be used by some teams in order to finish by the end of July. No games on July 2, 2024 (AAPS Dead Week). 
     GAME TIMES & LOCATIONS
    Game times are on Tuesday nights, with game times as early as 5:30 PM and as late as 9 PM.  Game sites are AAPS high schools or middle schools.
     
     
     
     
     PLAYER ELIGIBILITY - HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE
    1. Players in the league should be enrolled in grades 8-12 for the 2024-2025 school year.
    2. Use of 2024 graduates on a varsity roster is allowed for weeks when additional players are needed.  This option is preferable to forfeiting or playing short-handed. 
     UNIFORMS
     Numbered uniform shirts are recommended but not required. To keep registration costs down, shirts are not provided by Rec & Ed.   As per MHSAA rules, teams are not to wear school-owned jerseys or uniforms. 
     COACHES/MANAGERS
    All teams MUST have a non-playing coach/manager present on the team bench at each game who is at least eighteen years of age.  This coach/manager will not be allowed to play in the league and must be present at all league games and team practices.  Failure to have a manager on the bench will result in forfeiture of game(s). All coaches / managers must sign a ‘sportsmanship agreement’ and submit to a background check (required by the State of Michigan).  More than one person may fill the role of manager, but all must sign the sportsmanship agreement and submit to a background check. The Manager / coach who attends the match must sign the scoresheet.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: THE RESPONSIBILITY LIES WITH EACH COACH TO BE FULLY INFORMED AND ADHERE TO MHSAA REGULATIONS ON SUMMER / OUT-OF-SEASON COMPETITIONS. HIGH SCHOOL COACHES, PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELVES WITH: the limits on coaching days during summer and limitations on coaches during your school’s summer “dead” period. Be sure to have a legal substitute available to manage your team during any ‘no contact’ period.  If there are questions, consult with your Athletic Director.
