April 8th Update
COVID-19 Update April 8th
April 8th
Hello AAPS Students and Staff, Families and Community,
We continue our work in the AAPS to support student engagement and learning, as well as to share outreach and resources for students and families who may need additional support during this time. In this work, we continue to pursue meaningful and consistent connection, shared compassion and appropriate content learning for all our students to ensure their health, growth and academic progress during this challenging time.
Today’s update includes information on:
- AAPS Food Service Distribution
- Continuity of Learning Plan
- Hearing from You: Input and Feedback
AAPS Food Service
Tomorrow, Thursday, April 9th, is the next planned food distribution. Meals will be provided for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. If you have food allergy needs or cannot make it to a pick-up location, please call 734-994-2265. Full details on the AAPS Food Service are available here.
In addition to the AAPS Food Service available for students, Food Gatherers information on supplemental food pantry and pick up locations is here.
Continuity of Learning Plan
Members of our district team, including our talented teacher and content leaders, have developed and published today our AAPS Continuity of Learning Plan. We are excited for our teachers and principals to share more detail about how we will consistently engage students in learning and move forward in the curricula - at every grade level and in every content area - during the upcoming weeks through the end of this school year.
You can learn more about the expectations, student supports, what instruction will look like and social-emotional learning opportunities included in our plan here.
Important to Hear From You
We are always working to improve our work to meet your needs, and we would like to hear directly from you. We will be engaging in several opportunities over the coming days to interact in order to better understand your perspective and receive input and feedback on our work to support our students, staff, and families during this COVID-19 school closure.
We are asking that students, staff, and parents share their thoughts about: What are your most pressing questions and needs, and what priorities do you think we should be considering at this time?
To collect your valuable feedback from all in the AAPS Community during this next week, we are using both real-time virtual opportunities as well as a thought exchange inquiry.
AAPS Virtual Town Hall Meeting
We will convene a virtual AAPS Town Hall for Parents on next Friday, April 17th at 4 PM, and will share more detail about how to access this event over the coming days.
ThoughtExchange Survey
In addition, as another opportunity to collect your valuable feedback, we are using the online ThoughtExchange tool. Please share your thoughts here - and rate the thoughts of others - by next Thursday, April 16th. Remember to return to the exchange a few times over the next days to rate new thoughts.
Together, we maintain our unflinching focus on our children - Every Child. Every Day. Ensuring that our children are well, growing and learning is what provides meaning and gives us hope during these tough days. Thank you for all your support of our students, staff and this Ann Arbor Public Schools community.
Sincerely,
Jeanice K. Swift
Superintendent of Schools
