COVID & Health Guidance

Parents/Guardians - Reporting Student Absences Due to Illness

  • Parents should let their school office / absence line know if their student has symptoms or been diagnosed with COVID, influenza, norovirus (“stomach flu”), or any other illnesses.
  • AAPS school nurses work with school staff to monitor student illness. Student absence  information is critical for AAPS to prevent further spread and protect our most medically vulnerable students and staff.

COVID Updates for the 24-25 School Year:

Students diagnosed with COVID or experiencing any respiratory illness should return to school when:

  • Fever-free for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medication,
  • their symptoms are greatly improved, and
  • they feel well enough to be at school for a full day.

There is no longer an automatic 5 day isolation period from the day of symptom onset. The AAPS Student and Staff Individual Case Reporting forms have been retired. Masks continue to be welcome in AAPS.

Resources:

AAPS is responsible for monitoring communicable disease levels, notifying classrooms or whole schools, implementing steps to prevent further spread of disease, and working with the WCHD to investigate outbreaks.
