AAPS Budget Update - May 20

Dear Ann Arbor Public Schools Community,

The comprehensive district plan presented to the Board of Education last week by Interim Superintendent Jazz Parks was a detailed plan to help us overcome our budget shortfall.

After Interim Superintendent Parks asked the board last week to vote to approve the plan, the board agreed to hold this special meeting tonight to allow our staff, community and board members additional time to review it.

After much additional deliberation, the board took seriously the budget issues we face and voted to approve this comprehensive plan so we can deal with our budget shortfall and emerge stronger as a district while minimizing the impact on our students, programs and the classroom.

The vote tonight in favor of this plan brings certainty to staff who have asked for it and allows us to develop a budget for the coming school year and work together to grow this great district.
