Arab American Heritage Month

Arab American Heritage Month takes place in April.

2021-2022 Activities:

2020-2021 Activities:

  • All activities were virtual because of continued school closures (Covid-19).
  • Here is an interactive slide that can be used by teachers or students.


2019-2020 Activities:

  • All activities canceled due to Covid-19 Pandemic (March 2020)


2018-19 Activities:

  • Arab Night for Teens at The Neutral Zone (dancing, food and poetry)
  • Arabic Food Demonstration with Hannan El-Khatib
  • Arabiqua Concert with Karim Nagi  
  • Film Screening of, Detroit Unleaded, including follow up discussion with director, Role Nashefi 
  • Display of prize winning books at the Ann Arbor District Library (for children) and the U of M Undergraduate Library (for students/adults).
  • Several schools organized school-based programs that celebrated the contributions of the Arab culture to our community and larger society.


2017-18 Activities:

  • Arab Night for Teens at The Neutral Zone which included Arab Dancing, Food, and Poetry
  • Arabic Food Demonstration by Hanan Khatib
  • Arabiqua Concert with Karim Nagi for all ages
  • Film screening of "Detroit Unleaded" with a follow-up discussion with the director, Rola Nashef.
  • Featured display of a number of prize-winning and critically acclaimed books by Arab American authors on the second floor behind the service desk.
