Bus Transportation Information for Parents & Guardians
Bus Routes are posted mid-August and can be found at this link: AAPS Bus Schedule
The Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) provides student bus transportation based on the student’s home address (measured from home driveway to school driveway):
- High School & Middle School students who live 1.5 miles from school are considered in the walk zone.
- High School students who live outside the 1.5 mile walk zone but in the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (AAATA) service area will receive an AAATA public bus pass. High School students who live outside the AAATA service area will receive school bus service.
- Elementary School students who live 1.25 miles from school are considered in the walk zone. All others will receive school bus service.
All walk/bike routes are reviewed for safety, including well-marked pedestrian crossings.
Bus riders….
- Students should be at their bus stop at least 5 minutes before the posted bus stop time.
- An adult must be present at the bus stop for students in grades Young 5’s and Kindergarten for both student pick-up and drop-off.
- Bus drivers will not release a student from the bus unless an adult is present at the bus stop. If an adult is not present at drop-off, the student will be returned to school.
- For safety, all students must be seated on the bus while the bus is moving.
- Students should not stand up in their seat, put their legs in the aisle, turn around and look over the seat behind them, put any body parts out of the window, or throw things out of the window.
- Students should use “inside voices” on the bus at all times.
- No bullying, no eating or drinking on the bus, except water.
MyStop is a free desktop and mobile app that provides parents access to AAPS bus route information such as a child’s assigned bus, bus stop location and estimated arrival time at the bus stop.
MyStop allows parents and students to plan for on-time or late bus arrivals and prevent missed pick-ups. There is a 1–2-minute lag that may occur as the bus route information is being processed and transmitted to the app through the GPS system. Here is more information - MyStop Bus Arrival App. To access MyStop your student’s ID is the login and your Family ID is the password which is used for all of your students attending AAPS. Your school will send you the Family ID at the start of the school year if you don’t already have one.
In-District Transfer and School of Choice Students
Bus service is not provided for in-district transfer and school of choice students, but families may apply to ride an existing bus route starting October 1. Families will be notified within 2 weeks if there is space available on the requested bus route. Space Available Application

My Stop Bus Arrival App
My Stop is a free desktop and mobile app that provides parents access to bus route information such as a child’s assigned bus, bus stop location and updates on the estimated time of arrival at the bus stop. My Stop allows parents and students to plan for late or on-time arrival and prevent missed pick-ups. We are aware of a 1–2-minute lag that may occur as the bus route information is being processed and transmitted to the app through the GPS system. We continue to work with My Stop to improve this issue.
Please still have your student at their bus stop 10 minutes before the posted arrival time.
Instructions on how to set up My Stop from the app store as well as My Stop FAQs are below.
