    Mr. Gowman

    Dear Pattengill Families,

Summer Greetings! My name is Andy Gowman and I am the resource support teacher at Pattengill Elementary. I am so happy to welcome you and your child to Pattengill and to my academic support class for the coming 2020-2021 school year.

I have been a teacher in the Ann Arbor Public Schools for three years. This will be my eighth year of teaching. I previously taught in Romulus, Michigan for 4 years. I attended Eastern Michigan University where I earned a master’s degree from the College of Education. I have lived in Ann Arbor for over 11 years. I am originally from Royal Oak, Michigan, where I grew up and attended school K-12. Ann Arbor has been my favorite place to live. I love the culture, diversity, and access to so many parks and hiking trails. Some of my interests include gardening, hiking, photography, and cooking. Your child may be pleased to know that I am still very interested in many of my favorite toys growing up, such as Legos, Star Wars, Hot Wheels, and video games. I showcase many of these items in my classroom and am happy to talk to students about them.

I have a genuine curiosity about the world, which is why I have a passion for learning and working with children. In my classroom we’ll be exploring all aspects of the curriculum through one-on-one, small group, and scaffolded activities.

I look forward to getting to know your child and helping support them in their learning throughout the school year. We are going to have many great opportunities to learn and have fun together.

    Best Regards,
    Mr. Gowman
