Degrees and Certifications:
I am excited to be here with the educational team at King Elementary. This will be my twelfth year teaching in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan’s ELMAC program. My first degree was a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, and I have worked in that field for both General Motors and Eastman Kodak. I grew up in Houghton, Michigan, which is a small town located in the Upper Peninsula and is home to Michigan Tech. So of course my favorite subjects are math and science!
My husband and I have three wonderful children, all who have finished their college degrees and are living and working in Baltimore, Atlanta, and Boston! In my free time, I enjoy traveling, biking, kayaking, reading and gardening. I dabble in collecting rocks that find their way into the classroom, especially copper specimens from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and fossils from Lake Michigan.
I enjoy being part of a child’s learning discoveries. I also believe in the important partnership between parents and teacher and believe together we can assure a successful year of learning for your child.
As your child’s teacher, I feel it is important for me to create a caring, kind, and safe environment for your child to learn. I also believe in a classroom where the teacher and students are learning together, and where students are actively engaged in the learning process. The best part of a new school year is greeting all of my new students! Can’t wait to meet you!
