Mr. Kiebler

Dear King families,

As we start the new school year, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.

I grew up in Brooklyn, Michigan, a small town about an hour southwest of Ann Arbor. My wife and I live in Chelsea, where we built our home.  We have three children, Henry who is 10 years old and Emerson 8, and Agnes who is now 4 years old.

Education has always been super-important to me.  I love to learn and wish to ignite that same passion in my students.  I studied at Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, and Walden University where I earned my Masters Degree in Education.

This will be my 25th year teaching and I love working with kids.  My first three years of teaching were at Brooklyn Elementary, where I went to school as a child.  I taught a 3rd-4th grade multi-age class for two years and fifth grade for a year where my focus was instructing Language Arts and Math.  Then, I taught Social Studies, Language Arts and Reading at Columbia Middle School as a sixth grade teacher.  I taught fifth grade at Ridge Wood Elementary in Northville Schools for three years and third grade for 11 years and second for one year, fourth grade for 4 and a half years and second grade last year. here at King Elementary.  I am teaching 2nd again and I am pumped about it!

Coaching is also a passion of mine.  Wrestling and soccer are two sports that I have coached.  I was a wrestler myself, competing for the Michigan State University Spartans. Go Green!  Wrestling has given me so much that I wanted to give back.  I began coaching kids from ages 4 and up in a recreational freestyle program, as well as coaching High School varsity wrestling for 8 years.  In addition to wrestling, I also coached High School varsity soccer for two years.

Some of my hobbies include fishing, swimming, boating, reading, traveling, and fitness.  I have traveled and studied abroad many times to learn about world cultures.  In the fifth grade, I was an exchange student living in France.  During college, I traveled and studied in Europe and beyond for half a year.

Pets make a wonderful addition to my life and our classroom.  We have one classroom Bearded Dragon named Ollie, and we also have two tortoises named Dennis and Paco.

I look forward to an exciting year at Martin Luther King Elementary School!
