Mrs. Sarah Aherne
Hello! My name is Sarah Aherne and I am a first grade teacher at Carpenter. I am a proud graduate of the University of Michigan School of Education. I received my Elementary Education degree and majored in Early Childhood (ZA), English Language Arts, and Science. Go Blue! I also have my Masters in Social Foundations: Teaching for Diversity and Educational Leadership K-12 Administrator's Certificate from Eastern Michigan University.
This is my 19th year in public education. I have taught K-5 Media Information, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, and Title I in the Wayne-Westland School District. Also, I served as an Assistant Principal and Principal at an upper elementary school in Livonia Public Schools. I am a life long learner open to new experiences. I believe strongly in public education and the students and families we serve everyday!
Most importantly, I am the proud mom of two Scarlett Roadrunners (former Carpenter alum) and two Carpenter Cougars. I love running, reading, and cooking. I can't fall asleep without reading at least a few pages and always have a diverse stack of professional books and young adult literature next to my bed.
