Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to first grade! I am thrilled to be the A.M. first grade teacher here at King Elementary. In the morning I am teaching literacy including reading, writing and phonics. Our mornings will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
I am married to my husband, James. We have two boys, Lucas and Emery who are 6 and 2. When I’m at home, I spend most of my time with my family. This summer we went on many adventures including trips to the zoo, farm, Greenfield Village, and numerous visits to the pool and the library. When I have a few moments to myself I enjoy reading, writing, running, circuit training, and yoga.
I’m also a Mayo Clinic certified health and wellness coach. I am a healthy living enthusiast, and enjoy cooking with all-natural ingredients, and practicing mindfulness and meditation. I write a weekly blog about health, fitness, mindfulness, and motherhood. You can check out my blog at www.TrimMama.com.
I have lived in Ann Arbor most of my life. I went to Wines, Abbot, Forsythe and Pioneer! After graduating from high school, I got my B.A. in English with an emphasis in writing from Denison University. I moved to Los Angeles following graduation. I spent six years in Los Angeles where I began my teaching experience at a private school for gifted students in a fourth-grade classroom. I got my Masters in Education from California Lutheran University while I was teaching Kindergarten in a private school. My love for Ann Arbor brought me back home. I have been a teacher for fifteen years. For the last eight years I taught Young Fives (5 years) and 1st grade (3 years) at Abbot Elementary. This is my first-year teaching at King, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing learning community. It is my mission to instill a lifelong love for learning in all of my students.
