Degrees and Certifications:
Hello Carpenter Family! I am Rachael Strecker and this is my second-year teaching 5th grade at Carpenter Elementary. I have a diverse background in teaching that includes time spent as a math specialist serving k-8 students, a middle school math and science teacher, and now an elementary school teacher. I have always had a passion for learning and growing and I love sharing that with students. I believe that my role as a teacher is to inspire and ignite a curiosity for thinking and learning within my students. Also, to challenge them to be problem solvers, and empathetic and thoughtful scholars. As a former middle school teacher, I really enjoy 5th graders because you can help them prepare for the next big transition of middle school.
I was born and raised in Michigan, but spent several years in North Carolina teaching after college. I attended Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University for my undergrad studies and Concordia University for my graduate studies. I have a daughter who is five and we love spending time outdoors, swimming, dancing, reading, arts and crafts, and movies. We also have a dog, Carly, who will be 14 in the fall.
Here’s to another GREAT school year filled with LEARNING, GROWING, and FUN!!!
