Dear Pattengill Families,
Hello! My name is Lisa Bankey and I am one of the third-grade teachers at school. I am so happy to welcome you and your child to Pattengill and to my class for the school year.
I have been a teacher in the Ann Arbor Public Schools for over ten years. I attended the University of Michigan where I earned a B.A. and Masters from the School of Information. I live in Ann Arbor with my husband Christopher and two college-aged daughters, Madeline and Sophie. We have a goldfish named Weasley and a dog named Piccadilly. My interests are on the nerdy side. I love Star Wars (especially the Millennium Falcon) and Harry Potter. My favorite subject is Science. I am a member of the district science committee, responsible for training other teachers in our Phenomenal Science curriculum. With the shift to online learning, I designed district-wide grade-level curriculum and provided teachers with support on the district’s Continuous Learning Plan, implemented to finish the 2019-2020 school year as well as the SISS Summer Academy for the 2020 summer school program.
I truly enjoy learning and love to pass my passion on to students as we learn together over the school year. We will explore weather, forces, animal traits, and habitats in science. In math, we will build on and expand math skills students learned in second grade and learn about fractions, multiplication, and division. For reading, we will continue with guided reading and our writing will be integrated with our social studies units. Our social studies units will focus on our great state – Michigan!
I look forward to learning more about you and your child during the school year. We are going to have many amazing opportunities to both learn and have fun together.
Ms. Lisa Bankey
