Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Alison Corey
Welcome to Young Fives! I am thrilled to be the A.M. Young Fives teacher here at Abbot Elementary. Our mornings will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
I am married to my husband, James. We have two boys, Lucas and Emery. In addition to my love for teaching I also have an interest in healthy and wellness. I'm a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and run my own food blog at Keeping the Peas where I share plant-based recipes for mixed-diet families. I'm also a yoga instructor and enjoy incorporating yoga and mindfulness techniques into my teaching with children.
I have lived in Ann Arbor most of my life. I went to Wines, Abbot, Forsythe and Pioneer! After graduating from high school, I got my B.A. in English with an emphasis in writing from Denison University. I moved to Los Angeles following graduation. I spent six years in Los Angeles where I began my teaching experience at a private school for gifted students in a fourth-grade classroom. I got my Masters in Education from California Lutheran University while I was teaching Kindergarten in a private school. My love for Ann Arbor brought me back home. I have been a teacher for sixteen years with the majority of those years at Abbot teaching Young Fives.
