    Miss Solano

Hello Fourth Grade Students and Families,
Welcome to fourth grade at Pattengill Elementary School! I am so excited for this school year. My name is Taylor Solano, and I am your fourth-grade teacher.

This is my first year teaching at Pattengill but my seventh year teaching elementary students. I moved to Ann Arbor this summer from Rochester, New York, where I taught first grade, third grade, and K-5 literacy/math. I got my masters in elementary education at SUNY Cortland and my bachelors in journalism at SUNY Geneseo. Fun fact: I am a published author! I am passionate about books and writing, and I look forward to sharing these passions with my fourth graders.

I write and read every day because I am always trying to grow and learn. Some of my favorite children’s authors are Andrew Clements, Shel Silverstein, Roald Dahl, Jason Reynolds, and Kwame Alexander.

When I’m not teaching, I love going on runs, hikes, and bike rides with my partner Erik (a music professor – he’s why we moved to Michigan!). We enjoy playing music together, with me on piano and him on classical guitar. We had our first “performance” together this summer on Facebook Live!

I also love to travel. I have been to 36 of the 50 US states, 13 foreign countries, and 5 of the 7 continents. I will make it to Antarctica… someday!

I look forward to getting to know all of you in the coming weeks.

    Warmest wishes,
    Miss Solano
