Welcome students and families! My name is Amanda Robertson and I am so thrilled to be a part of the King family as the new 3rd-grade teacher. Each class is unique from one year to the next, so I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and watching our class evolve over the coming months.
I grew up next door in Chelsea, Michigan, and attended undergrad at Grand Valley State University for International Relations. Upon graduation, I moved abroad to South Korea where I taught English and studied Korean intensively. I enjoyed my time immensely and stayed for three years! After returning to Michigan, I worked briefly as a flight attendant and returned to school graduating with a Master's in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan.
As a teacher and a global citizen, my mission is to learn from and celebrate those who are different from us. Students will be centered as the experts in their culture(s) and we will work together to acknowledge our differences and connect through our similarities. I hope to spark a deep curiosity for the world around us!
When not at school, I enjoy Latin dancing, cooking, and reading. Due to apartment living and a busy lifestyle, I do not have any pets but I do have plants! My ideal would be sitting on my porch in the morning with a hot cup of mint tea flipping through a new cookbook surrounded by my plants :)
I look forward to meeting each one of you and having an unforgettable year together!
