Rec & Ed Scholarships: Fee Waiver/Fee Discount Program

  • Rec & Ed strives to ensure individuals & families can enjoy quality enrichment classes, recreational sports, school break and summer camps and the before and after school programs. We are proud to offer scholarships to members of the Ann Arbor Public Schools community & Ann Arbor Public Schools students who meet specific HUD income guidelines and residency requirements.

    Standard Scholarship:

    The Standard Scholarship program is available to individuals and families who live within the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public School District or school of choice students and have documented income/support that falls within specific HUD income guidelines.

      • Non-AAPS residents are able to apply for the scholarship program as long as their children attend an AAPS school. If approved, the scholarship will only apply to the children listed on the application.
      • If you have children who are 18 years or older and not attending high school but are living in your household, they will need to fill out their own application.
      • If you have grandparents or relatives living in your household, then they will need to fill out their own application.

     

    Before/After Care (BAC) Scholarship Renewal:

    BAC scholarships expire on June 30th of the current school year. You must re-apply for the before/after care scholarship every school year. 

      • You must have an active Rec & Ed Scholarship
        • If your scholarship expires within a month of filling out this renewal form, then you will need to re-apply for the Standard Application.
        • If you do not have an active Rec & Ed Scholarship, you will need to apply for the Standard Scholarship.

    Sponsoring a Scholarship

    Rec & Ed receives requests each year from citizens interested in sponsoring scholarships for an individual, group of individuals or for an entire class.. Recently, one person anonymously paid for a week of camp for a child and another person paid for 9 scholarships for drawing classes. If you would like to sponsor a scholarship or contribute to the Rec & Ed Scholarship fund, e-mail scholarships@aaps.k12.mi.us

    Donating When You Register

    You can easily contribute to the Rec & Ed scholarship fund by donating $1 when you register. Simply add $1 or more in the space indicated in the lower right corner of the Rec & Ed registration form and add that amount to your payment. Online, you can contribute by clicking on "donations," typing in the amount you would like to give and putting your contribution in your shopping cart. Your contribution will be included in the total amount you pay with your credit card.
