Ms. Roberta M. Heyward Ed. S.
Ms. Heyward has served the Bryant Elementary School community as principal since 2010, and also has experience as a middle school English Language Arts, Creative Writing, and Reading teacher; she was recognized as Teacher of the Year during the time she was teaching middle school.
Roberta Heyward is currently a doctoral candidate in Education Leadership at the University of Michigan and holds an Education Specialist Degree in Administration/Leadership from Oakland University, a Master of Arts in The Art of teaching from Marygrove College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Language Arts-Communications from the University of Detroit, Mercy.
Ms. Roberta Heyward has established a record as an experienced and successful administrator whose leadership skills are recognized throughout the Ann Arbor community and she is often sought out to serve on district level committees and work groups. She currently serves on the District Calendar and Elementary Report Card committees and in past years, served on the Playground Advisory Committee. In 2014, Ms. Heyward was honored as a “Woman of Excellence” by the Michigan Chronicle.
She is very excited to return to the middle school level. She writes, “Each day, my goal is to foster an environment that is conducive to learning, an environment that will help to fortify the academic success of all students and the continued growth of our educators.”
