Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Reema Jarjoura. I have been teaching at King Elementary school for 22 years! I am grateful to be doing one of the things that I love: working with 2nd graders!
I am an Arab American from Ann Arbor and grew up attending Ann Arbor Public Schools: Thurston Elementary, Clague Middle School and Huron High School. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University and have a Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching. Ann Arbor is a wonderful place to raise a family, and I was lucky to have been raised here myself.
My husband, Joseph Jarjoura, is an Engineer at Toyota Technical Center and we have two AMAZING daughters, Layla (16) and Jenna (14) who attend Pioneer and Community High Schools. We also have a loving dog named Sadie. In our spare time we enjoy biking, traveling and attending various sporting events (especially our kids!) and socializing. We are fortunate to have family in the Ann Arbor area and spend a lot of time together. My mom (Rabia Shafie) used to teach at King for many years! She was the one who inspired me to go into teaching!
Second graders are at an age where they have a love for learning and a thirst for knowledge. I believe that all children can learn and accomplish many things! I am passionate about working with students/families from all cultural backgrounds. I want my students to be proud of their culture, in a safe and nurturing environment. Helping children learn how to coexist with people from all around the world, accept differences, celebrate unique qualities and learn from one another is very powerful, especially in this day and age. Showing tolerance for others and solving problems peacefully will be practiced. I believe it is important to help build and maintain a strong sense of community and connect with my students. I especially enjoy learning from them! I look forward to making a difference with our future generation!
