11th Grade State Testing Schedule/Info
March 16th, 2018
Dear 11th Grade Families,
Huron High School will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 26th through Friday, March 30th, 2018.
School will resume on April 2nd.
The second week following Spring Break will be an atypical week here at Huron due to a series of assessments.
On Tuesday, April 10th, your 11th grade student will be taking the SAT exam.
The purpose of this exam is to establish a baseline measurement of college and career readiness. The results of this exam will help your student and their teachers identify what areas must be focused on to prepare for their future beyond high school.
The SAT exam is an admission test accepted by U.S. colleges, and the College Board has programs and resources available to encourage students to take advantage of higher education. Some of the benefits available to students include college application fee waivers, personalized online study tools, continuous assessment feedback, scholarship opportunities, and increased access to AP courses, exams, and college credit.
Students do not need to study or otherwise prepare for the SAT exam. You can assist your student by ensuring that he/she receives a proper amount of sleep the night before testing. Additionally, please ensure that your student arrives at school on time for the SAT exam on Tuesday, April 10th.
Students are allowed to use a calculator for part of the Math Test. It is highly recommended for students to bring their own calculator, although it is not required. The math section can be completed without a calculator. The school will have basic "four-function" calculators (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) available for use. Please click on this LINK to review the SAT Calculator Policy.
On Wednesday, April 11th, your 11th grade student will be taking the ACT and WorkKeys assessment.
On Thursday, April 12th, your 11th grade student will be taking the M-Step exam.
He/she will attend school during regular hours (7:45am – 2:36pm), and will either take the exam in the morning or afternoon per the schedule below. Your student will attend regularly scheduled classes when not testing.
If you have any questions about the SAT exam, please contact your student’s Guidance Counselor.
School buses will provide transportation at their regularly scheduled times all week.
