• Huron School Registration Details (2019-2020)

    Registration will take place on the dates and times listed below. All Registration documents are online. Please print and complete the Registration forms before you come to Registration. On your scheduled Registration date please enter the main entrance at Huron and follow this schedule:

    Tuesday, August 20th 

    12th Grade Registration/Pictures/Book Pickup - Last name A-Z  - 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM
    11th  Grade Registration/Pictures/Book Pickup - Last name A-Z - 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM     

    Wednesday, August 21st

    9th Grade Registration/Pictures/Book Pickup - Last name A-K  8:00 AM - 11:30 AM and last name L-Z - 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM.
    Students will be able to walk their schedules during both Registration times.

    Thursday, August 22nd

    10th Grade Registration/Pictures/Book Pickup - Last name A-K  8:00 AM - 11:30 AM and last name L-Z - 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM            

     Friday, August 23rd

    9th Grade Student Orientation and 9th Grade Parent Orientation - 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM

    All 9th grade students should arrive promptly under Huron’s arch at 7:45 AM to participate in our Link Crew Student Orientation Program. From 8:00-11:30 AM,

    • 9th grade students will participate in team-building and orientation activities facilitated by our 11th and 12th grade Link Crew student mentors. For 9th grade students attending the Link Crew Orientation,  a pizza lunch will be provided.
    • From 8:00 -11:30 AM, a parent orientation will take place. Parents will have the opportunity to meet Huron’s Principal, Assistant Principals, 9th Grade Dean, and 9th Grade Counselors. During this time an overview of Huron High School will be provided with information on effective student transitioning to high school. You will be able to select other breakout sessions to attend during the orientation. Light breakfast refreshments will be provided.  The orientation will begin in Meyers Auditorium 

    Please complete the Registration documents in infosnap prior to Registration and print out and bring your infosnap confirmation sheet to Registration. This confirmation sheet will allow you to begin the Registration process! If you do not have an infosnap registration code, assistance will be available at Registration. Individual student pictures will be taken during Registration. Information about pictures and ordering online is available at the following link https://www.schoolpictures.com/choose-school. Attached you will find PTSO documents, Huron’s student parking application form, yearbook purchase information, Music Booster and Rising Scholar information, free and reduced meal application, as well as athletic information. Please bring your completed Registration documents with you.  If you cannot attend your regularly scheduled Registration, you may come to any of the other Registration dates and times after your scheduled Registration date, or to your Class Office beginning on August 23rd to Register.  If you are unable to attend Registration, picture retakes will be scheduled in the early fall during the school day.

    At Huron, all students in grades 9 and 10 participate in the IB Middle Years Programme, which focuses more on inquiry learning, critical thinking, and student collaboration. We are very excited to continue the IB Diploma Programme at Huron for enrolled 11th  and 12th grade students. We are also equally excited to continue to offer the IB Career-related Programme for 11th and 12th graders.

    The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. At Huron, the school day begins at 7:45 AM and ends at 2:36 PM. Students are asked to arrive on time for classes and to promptly leave the building at dismissal time unless they are in an after school activity supervised by a staff member.  I encourage all students to become actively involved at Huron High School and enjoy all the opportunities that a comprehensive high school offers. There will be a variety of co-curricular/sports activities offered after school. Information about after school activities, start dates, and meeting times will be provided to students via our daily school bulletin, which is also available in PowerSchool, and on our message kiosks.  Sports and co-curricular information is posted on our school website.

    Our goal is for all students to achieve academic success. This is only possible if students and parents share with us the responsibility for student achievement. I encourage students to be prepared for class each day, actively participate, become involved in our school, and stay organized. At Huron, interacting in a respectful manner is an expectation for everyone. I ask that students treat each other as they would like to be treated, respecting others and their personal belongings. At the beginning of the school year, administrators will review our school’s behavioral expectations with all students. Please take some time to review the Huron High School Guide for Parents and Students, which will be provided to you and posted on our school website. 

    I encourage you as parents/guardians to stay involved with your child’s education program, teachers and school during the academic year. Communication is a critical component of a truly successful school/parent partnership. Establish early positive communication with your child’s teachers and counselor. Huron’s Capsule Night (meet your child’s teachers) is scheduled on Monday, September 16th starting at 6:30 PM. Please mark your calendars. I also encourage parents to log into PowerSchool regularly to review your child’s academic progress and attendance. There is a link to PowerSchool on our school website. Whenever your child is absent from school, please call the attendance number at 994-4327 and follow the prompts. If you have attendance questions please contact your Class Office. Mr. Edmondson will be the Assistant Principal for grades 11 with the last names (A-K) and 12th grade (A-Z). He can be reached at 994-2061. Mr. Sumerton will be the Assistant Principal for grades 10 (A-Z) and grade 11 with the last names (L-Z). His office number is 994-2045. Ms. Stevenson is the 9th grade Dean (A-Z) and can be reached at 994-2045. Please feel free to contact the school at any time should you have any questions or concerns. Your feedback is important to us and we will assist you in any way that we can. I will again be hosting monthly informal Parent/Principal Coffee Hours during the school year. Parent/Principal Coffees will give you an opportunity to provide feedback and have an informal conversation with me. The first Parent/Principal Coffee Hour is scheduled for Thursday, September 26th from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Principal’s Conference Room.  I hope you will stop by.

    To continue to maintain our school’s security protocol, all exterior doors are locked and will remain locked during the day. When visiting Huron please only use our main entrance to enter our school and to follow our security protocol at our main entrance security station.  Also, please leave via the main entrance and sign out at the main door security station when you are leaving. I greatly appreciate your cooperation with these safety procedures.

    Similar to last year, Huron’s lunch option will include two lunch periods Monday through Friday and a closed campus during each lunch period, with the exception of an open campus for lunch on Fridays only for seniors. All other students should remain on campus each day.
