Summer ESL Academy (SESLA)

  • Program Description: 

    The AAPS Summer ESL Academy (SESLA) serves multilingual students entering grades 4 - 8 in the 2022-23 school year. During this three-week program, students will engage in a project-based curriculum that supports math, literacy, and English language skills. All classes will be held in person at Huron High School. 


    1. Develop English language reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills
    2. Develop math skills
    3. Build relationships with teachers and peers


    • June 20th - July 8th
    • Monday - Friday (No School July 4)

    • Enrollment is by invitation based on student data and teacher recommendations. Parents of invited students will receive an email with registration information the week of May 18th.

EL Bridge Summer Program

  • Program Description:

    The EL Bridge program is designed for English language learners to earn 0.5 elective credit while getting exposure to academic and social opportunities to help them successfully transition to high school. The main objectives of EL Bridge include:

    • Building English language skills in the core content areas with a specific focus in Language Arts through a variety of activities rooted in SIOP;
    • Preparing for a successful transition into high school for incoming 9th graders and newcomers to AAPS that qualify for English Learner services; and
    • Establishing school knowledge (school skills, school resources, communication with teachers, etc.) for EL students to use in order to advocate for their school-based needs.


    • July 11-14, 18-21, 25-28
    • Monday - Thursday


    Enrollment in EL Bridge is by invitation based on English Learner assessment data.  Parents of invited students will receive a communication with instructions on how to indicate their desire to participate in the program.
