Mr. Timothy Krohn
Music Department Chair
As a performer, educator, and conductor, Timothy Krohn is committed to inspiring and engaging others through music. Mr. Krohn serves as the High School Orchestra Director for Ann Arbor Huron High School, where he conducts the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Krohn also teaches beginning strings at Logan Elementary and assists at Clague Middle and Scarlett Middle Schools. Prior to his appointment with the Ann Arbor Public Schools, Mr. Krohn served as the High School Orchestra Director for Saline Area Schools. In addition to his position at Huron, Mr. Krohn has served as the Music Director and Conductor for the Mason Symphony Orchestra (MI) and the Arbor Brass Choir and currently serves as Director of Music at Lord of Light Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor. Originally from Lewisburg, PA, Mr. Krohn began studying the violin at age three and has played with several folk groups around Michigan. As a trumpet player, Mr. Krohn is currently the Principal Trumpet with the Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony and has performed with the Michigan Opera Theater, Ann Arbor Symphony, Adrian Symphony, Dearborn Symphony, Plymouth Symphony, Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, Pierre Monteux Orchestra, Williamsport Symphony, and the Lexington (MI) Bach Festival. Mr. Krohn holds degrees in Trumpet Performance, Music Education, and Conducting from the University of Michigan where he was a student of William Lucas and Michael Haithcock. Mr. Krohn has also studied with Marianne Ploger, Bob Culver, Kenneth Kiesler, Jerry Blackstone, and Steven Davis.
In his free time, Mr. Krohn enjoys Michigan Football, yoga, running, playing soccer, bridge, and spending time with friends and family.
