Rec & Ed offers a fun opportunity for adults in the Ann Arbor area to meet other sports-minded and socially-active individuals through our "Free Agent" teams. These teams are perfect for people who are new to the Ann Arbor area or for those who are looking for a way to be active. Free agent softball and kickball teams are a great way to expand your circle of friends.
Rec & Ed offers the following SUMMER 2021 Free Agent teams:
- Co-Rec Kickball Free Agent team - Friday nights
- Co-Rec Softball Free Agent teams - options: Wednesday 5 & 5 or "7 & 3" league or Friday night "5 & 5" Recreation League;
- Men's Softball Free Agent team - Tuesday night Recreation League.
- Sand Volleyball Corec "Quad" Free Agent team (2 guys & 2 gals). Sand Volleyball starts later in May. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for sand volleyball info.
Softball & Kickball Fall season starts the week of May 3, 2021. Teams play 10 games and the league takes 10-12 weeks. A minimum of 7 men and 7 women (5 women and 9 men for 7 & 3) are needed for a Co-Rec team to be formed . A minimum of 12-14 guys are needed for a Men's team to be formed. A minimum of 3 guys and 3 gals are needed for a sand volleyball team to be formed.
The fee to join a free agent softball team is $75 and the fee to join a free agent kickball team is $49. The fees cover 10 games, umpire fees, a team practice permit, and a team T shirt for each player. In addition, the players get to pick their team name, and Rec & Ed prints the team name on each team’s shirts. A meeting is held with the teams a few weeks before the season begins to go over league policies and rules, and pick your team name.
