I have been a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in Ann Arbor Public Schools at the Preschool and Family Center since 2015. I have supported many of the classrooms here at Westerman including general education and special education rooms. I also currently provide community speech and language services individually and in SLP/OT groups. I love my job and the connections I am able to build with all of the children and families I work with. I am lucky to be a part of the Westerman team; it is rewarding to work with a group of people who all have a passion for helping children learn, grow and thrive.

As a child, I lived in Naperville, IL, and then Saline, MI. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and my Master’s degree from Western Michigan University. I now live in Ann Arbor with my husband and our one-year-old daughter.

I am so excited to have settled in to working with the 3-5 year old "Community Speech and Language Program" here at Westerman Preschool and Family Center. I hired on with AAPS in the fall of 1999 after graduating from the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the University of Northern Colorado. My career path began as a teacher at a private preschool just outside of Denver. I've been the sole SLP in a pre-K through high school mountain community in Bailey, Colorado, and an SLP at Lincoln Consolodated Schools Early Elementary building. I began my AAPS tenure at the preschool when it was housed at the WISD, then worked part time across several elementary buildings in the district while raising my three kids. Next year I will have two in College and one Junior in high school. Each of my kids now tower over me, so I cherish evaluating, diagnosing and providing therapy for families and their young ones. They say every child deserves an excited, happy teacher and I truly find joy every day in working with the youngest students here in Ann Arbor.

I have loved working with students and families at The Preschool & Family Center for the last 11 years. Prior to working for AAPS, I worked with Head Start, Elementary, Middle & High School students in Willow Run and Lincoln Consolidated Schools. I get much joy from seeing students learn and grow as I have had from raising my two daughters.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with my Masters in Speech-Language Pathology and have been working at Westerman since the 2018/2019 school year. I previously worked in private practice with children up to age 12, but always had a special spot in my heart for those 3-5 year olds and feel so grateful to work with them every day at preschool.  My favorite part of my job is supporting students in a meaningful, fun way and seeing their growth across the school year. I also love the collaborative environment and the opportunity to work with amazing professionals and families. At home, I enjoy walking with my dog, cooking, and reading.

I began working for Ann Arbor Public Schools in 2009. All of my years with AAPS have been at the Preschool. I have worked in Early Intervention, in many of our preschool classrooms and on the Assessment Team. I am from way up north in Sault Ste Marie, Canada. I received my bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and my Master’s Degree from West Virginia University.

I am married with three children. Two attend AAPS in 8th and 11th grade and one is now in college. I enjoy working with the preschool age. I love the genuine curiosity and excitement at preschool and it’s rewarding to support families in getting their child off to a great start. It’s wonderful to work on teaching teams each year that share the same dedication and excitement toward working with our youngest learners and their families.
