SEMMLAA - What is it?


The Southeast Michigan Middle Level Administrators Association (SEMMLAA)  is an administrators association for areas schools in Washtenaw and surrounding counties. The purpose of the organization is to collaborate professionally and share ideas administratively to better our students, staffs, and communities. The organization also provides a few activities for our schools students, which they can compete in with one another for the experience of friendly competition. 
The middle schools that participate in SEMMLAA are as follows:
Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Milan, Pinckney, Tappan, and Tecumseh 
The activities SEMMLAA provides for our students and staff are as follows:
  • Spelling Bee Competition (Individual)  (6-8th grade)
  • Quiz Bowl Competition (Mixed teams from each school represented) (6-8th grade)
  • Student Leadership Day (6-8th grade)
  • Secretaries Luncheon (All middle school office professional / secretaries)
  • 8th Grade Honors
    • (This event is for the top 15 students, who have accumulated the highest GPA over the course of their middle school career (grades 6, 7, and 8th grade (quarters 1-3)).
    • These 15 students receive a certificate of accomplishment and have a group photo taken.
    • In addition the top 15 students also get to choose the SEMMLAA Teacher of the Year.
