Update on Rec & Ed Cancellations

Dear Rec & Ed participants,

As part of the AAPS effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Rec & Ed will be canceling youth and adult activities through April 13. One of Rec & Ed’s core values is to promote health and wellbeing in the community. While we are disappointed to cancel our enrichment and recreational programs, we know that it’s the best way we can help fight COVID-19 in our community.

We understand that some community members who have registered for a Rec & Ed class, child care, or sport that is scheduled to occur during the school closure time period are anxious to hear news about the status of their payment. Rec & Ed staff will be working hard over the coming days to connect with participants in each program.

For today, we can provide the following information:

Early Childhood/First Steps classes

We are reviewing Winter term classes to determine options for offering make-up spots in future classes or offering credits on account.

Youth and Adult Enrichment Classes

We are reviewing Winter term youth and adult classes to determine options for rescheduling or offering a credit. However, Winter term youth or adult classes with a start date between Thursday, March 12 and Sunday April 5, will be refunded as paid.

Spring Break Camps

We have processed full refunds through our registration system. Registrations using credit cards have already been processed. Registrations made by cash or check will be issued a check refund by April 3, 2020.

School Age Child Care

We are working on a process to provide a full credit to your account for the dates that service has been cancelled. This credit can be used as soon as the school district and the childcare program resumes. The full credit for your prepaid fees will be placed on your account and available for use in your next billing cycle.

Facility Use Rentals

One time facility rentals between March 11 and April 5 will be issued a full refund as paid. Ongoing/Continuing rentals will receive a credit on account. We are reviewing Winter gym rental program permits to determine options for rescheduling or offering a credit.

Adult and Youth Team Sports

This weekend’s adult basketball tournament will be fully refunded as paid. Remaining Winter adult volleyball and basketball league games will be rescheduled. Youth futsal (indoor soccer)  and youth basketball families will be contacted about a credit for the final one or two games of the Winter season.

We appreciate your patience as we work through all of the issues involved in processing credits and refunds. Check our website and Facebook page during the school closure for updates and additional programming information.

We appreciate your support as we work through these challenging times together.

Sincerely,

Jenna M. Bacolor
