News from the Cube! 

Today we will be hosting Claremont McKenna College (CA) @ 9:45 am, Colby College (ME)@ 1:15 pm, and Northwood University.  

 

Junior State of America (JSA)

Are you interested in current events? Do you like to debate? Fight apathy and share your opinions by joining us after school in Ms. Barton’s room, C417, every Thursday for Junior State of America, a debate club with new, timely topics to discuss weekly. Our first topic is “Should the US adopt open borders?” this Thursday, September 12. See you there!

 

Sky Students.

If you have a club or organization you would like to promote or recruit new members, sign up for the SAS club fair we will have next week. Speak to your club advisor so they can fill out the link for your club. Deadline for submission is this Friday, September 13th. 

 

Exchange student club

Exchange student club has officially begun for the year! If you’re an exchange student, interested in getting to know exchange students and international students, or a former exchange student then exchange student club is for you. Our first meeting will be held today  in room C 304 and all Tuesdays there after. On behalf of the exchange student club we look forward to meeting you all! 

 

QSA 

Skyline's Queer Straight Alliance (QSA), supporting all LGBTQ students and their allies, invites everyone to our first meeting this Thursday September 12th at 2:45 in room B306. Hope to see you there!

 

Join the Skyline Robotics Team!

We build amazing robots and take them to compete across Michigan. Come to the parent-student informational meeting on Tuesday, September 17th from 6:30 to 8 in the DTEP room (next to the commons). No experience necessary! More info on our website at skylinerobotics.org

 

Tri-M meeting 

Tri-M executive board will meet Thursday at 5:30 PM in the Orchestra Room. All other members should arrive at 7:00 PM for our general meeting. See you Thursday.  

 

Skyline Black Student Union Kick Off Meeting! 

Next Tuesday, September 17 3:00pm- 4:30pm. Meet and greet new and old faces! Club planning with pizza, raffles and prizes! See Stacie Warner, Demitrius Castelow, and Madison Davenport for details.We hope to see you there!



Planned Parenthood’s Washtenaw County Peer Education program is currently taking applications! 

Peer Educators are young adults who are in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade who present about topics such as contraceptive methods, LGBTQ+ identities, and healthy relationships in high school health classrooms around the area, and serve as confidential, non-judgmental, medically accurate, culturally sensitive, age appropriate resources for sexual health information for teens in the community. Our current peer educator at Skyline is Ruby Cole - please speak to her if you specific questions about the program. If you are interested, the applications are located outside Mrs Bezeau's classroom on the first floor A115. Applications are due Wednesday, September 18th and interviews will be done the following week.  

 

Homecoming Updates: 

Homecoming will be the second week of October and more specific information will be coming in the next several weeks. But if you’re bringing a guest who isn't a Skyline students - Dance guests forms are due Monday, Oct 7th by 2:45pm. Forms can be found in both SLC offices, outside A115 or under the student space tab on Skyline's website. The dance will be Saturday, October 12th from 8pm to 11pm. Also at Capsule night this Wednesday, you can still purchase shirts, hoodies and dance tickets sold for the same prices that were promoted during registration week! Also any junior or senior interested in PowderPuff or PowderTuff, you can still sign up and submit payment by Friday, September 13th. Any homecoming questions please see Mrs Bezeau in A115.  

 

Red Cross Club

Do you like helping others and want to get involved in a club? The Skyline Red Cross club needs members! The Red Cross club helps organize and run the blood drives as well as other service activities. Meet in the library with Ms. Szurek at 2:45pm on Thursday, September 19th if interested. Hope to see you there!

 

Interested in neuroscience or biology?

The Skyline Neurobiology Club has begun its second year! We will learn about the fascinating organ between our ears-- the brain, and prepare for the National Biology Olympiad in the process! SKYLINE SPEECH AND DEBATE 

Do you want to improve your public speaking skills? If so, come join Skyline’s Speech and Debate club! At meetings we practice cutting and performing stories, plays, and poetry; writing persuasive speeches; selling real products; or debating current issues, and prepare for competitions at high schools across Michigan. Regardless of what you want to do in the future, public speaking is an important skill, and this club can really help you get ready for the future. We meet every Wednesday after school in room A305 and our first open practice will be tomorrow in room A305. We would love to see you there!
