November 20, 2018 - Happy Thanksgiving
As we move into this Thanksgiving, we have so much for which to be grateful in the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
Our gratitude list begins with our 18,000 beautiful children; we are most grateful for each and every child and the opportunity to serve and support their learning and growth each day at school. The light in their eyes, and the energy and curiosity they bring to learning give us all joy and hope for the future. Thank you, parents, for sharing your amazing children with us.
We are grateful for the teachers, support staff and leaders of the Ann Arbor Public Schools for their incredible work this year. They serve as deeply committed and caring professionals, dedicating their careers in service to our children, and they are the reason that our school district is rated highly and our children discover, grow and succeed at school each day.
We are grateful for our highly engaged and supportive parents whose participation with school staff makes us a stronger, more connected school community. As a result of strong partnerships across students, staff, parents, and community, the signs of health and success surround us in Ann Arbor.

It is an important time for all of us in the AAPS to express our gratitude. We understand, now more than ever, that any success we experience is the result of relationship, partnership, and mutual support for each other to achieve our shared goals.
We are each nurtured as neighbors in our day-to-day connections; we understand that it is the quality of our relationship with each other that truly enriches this Ann Arbor community of schools. The Ann Arbor Public Schools are proud to serve as community schools where all individuals are welcomed, embraced and celebrated. This isn’t just what we do in Ann Arbor, it is who we are.
Thank you for your support of our children and the Ann Arbor Public Schools, and thank you for the opportunity to serve. I wish you and yours a safe, warm and restful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Jeanice Kerr Swift
