July 15, 2019 - Loss of Scarlett Student
Dear Ann Arbor Staff, Families, and Community
It is with deep sadness I share that Scarlett student Theron Brooker-Nolan, a rising 8th grader, passed away over the weekend in a tragic drowning accident that occurred off the coast of Lake Michigan. Theron was a valued member of the Scarlett Nation who loved his family, his pets, sports, and his school. Prior to attending Scarlett, Theron attended Mitchell Elementary School and Westerman Preschool.
We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Theron. Please reach out and support each other. Remember that this hard news affects everyone differently. Sometimes it really hits hard even for students, parents, and staff who did not know Theron personally.
Members of the Crisis Team are present at Scarlett today to support staff and students through this difficult time. Crisis Team support will continue over the coming days so that our students and staff have ongoing support during this very difficult time.
I know that we all join together to extend our thoughts of loving support and deepest sympathy to the many family, friends, students, teachers and staff, and to all who knew and loved Theron.
We have included guidelines below to assist you as you have conversations with your child or with students.
Sincerely,
Jeanice K. Swift
