July 19, 2023 - New Principal of Slauson Middle School
Mr. Brandon Szwejkowski
Dr. Jeanice K. Swift, Superintendent of Schools for the Ann Arbor Public Schools, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Brandon Szwejkowski as principal of Slauson Middle School.
Mr. Szwejkowski has served as Slauson’s Interim Principal since August 2022. Prior to this appointment, he served five years as the Assistant Principal at Slauson. In his 15th year as an educator, Mr. Szwejkowski is well-positioned to continue leading Slauson students, staff and community in this new capacity.
Mr. Szwejkowski completed a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University with a double major in Language, Literature and Writing, as well as Communications and Theater. He holds a Master of Educational Leadership from Madonna University. Before coming to the Ann Arbor Public Schools, he was an Assistant Principal at Jefferson High School in Monroe, MI, and taught English at Milan High School.
Superintendent Swift shares, “Considering Mr. Szwejkowski’s deep experience as an educator, his proven success in prior school leadership roles, and his time as both an interim principal and assistant principal at Slauson, Mr. Szwejkowski brings a depth of experience and a proven record of success that will serve the Slauson community well.”
He writes, “I am excited to continue my educational journey at Slauson as Principal. Having been part of Slauson for the past 6 years, I have seen the commitment of the teachers, staff, students and parents in fostering an inclusive, high-performing and welcoming community. I am grateful for the support of the Slauson community, and I am committed to maintaining the school's tradition of academic excellence and development of the whole student. Together we will create an environment that encourages critical thinking, personal growth, and intellectual curiosity. I am excited to welcome collaboration from all stakeholders in order to create a high-performing educational experience for all students.”
Superintendent Swift extends a special thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and community members who served on the interview teams during a robust selection process.
