Dear Skyline Staff and Community,

We are writing to share with you that Mr. Cory McElmeel, Skyline High School Principal, has accepted a new position in the Ann Arbor Public Schools as Lead Principal on Special Assignment for the district. We are deeply thankful to Mr. McElmeel for his many years of service to the Skyline community and are excited for him as he steps into this next chapter of his career. 

We understand that this will be a time of change for the Skyline community, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for students, staff and families. As such, Ms. Casey Elmore, current Skyline SLC Principal for Integrity and Diversity, will serve as the Interim Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Ms. Elmore has served the Skyline community as an SLC principal for the past 13 years and is well-prepared to step into the lead principal role to support Skyline at this time. 

As a highly regarded and veteran administrator in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, Mrs. Elmore brings a depth of leadership, commitment and experience that will serve the Skyline Community well during this transition. Ms. Elmore is very excited about this opportunity and shares, “As part of the administrative and Skyline team, and as a parent of a Skyline graduate, I am excited and look forward to serving the community in this new role.”  As additional support, Ms. Terri Patterson, Skyline’s 9th Grade Dean, will serve as the Interim SLC Principal of Integrity and Diversity. 

In the Spring, on a more traditional principal search timeline, we look forward to conducting a robust principal search and engaging the Skyline community in the interview process. In the meantime, Ms. Elmore and the Skyline administrative team will continue to lead and support the Skyline students, staff, parents and community.

We are excited to focus on supporting our students, staff and families to ensure this 2023-2024 launch and school year are a wonderful success for our Skyline school community.
