Concetta A. Lewis
Ms. Jazz Parks, Interim Superintendent of Schools, Ann Arbor Public Schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Concetta A. Lewis as the new Assistant Superintendent, Office of Special Education.
Ms. Lewis served in the classroom as a Special Education Teacher/Resource Room Consultant for over thirteen years. Since 2006, she has worked as a Director of Special Education in Dearborn, Michigan, Director of Student Support Services for Ypsilanti Community Schools and Assistant Director and Interim Executive Director of Student Intervention and Support Services for Ann Arbor Public Schools. Currently, she has been serving as Rochester Community Schools Assistant Superintendent – Special Populations, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
Ms. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education (Emotionally Impaired) from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Administration – Human Resources from Central Michigan University. She received her Education Specialist in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University.
Highlights from Ms. Lewis’ leadership include: developing positive relationships using a well-balanced approach to problem-solving in collaboration with parent advisory groups, union leadership and other key stakeholders, as well as developing curriculum, programs and services to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of students. She writes, “It is an honor to have been selected to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Programs with Ann Arbor Public Schools. I consider it a true privilege to have been welcomed back to this exceptional school district and amazing community. I am fortunate to rejoin an outstanding team, and I look forward to working with our stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for our students.”
