    The Ann Arbor Public School District offers a variety of summer programs. Many of the programs are designed for students who would benefit from added educational support during the summer months.

  • Extended School Year (ESY) Services at Logan Elementary

    Who Can Enroll:
    Currently enrolled K-12 Special Education students with IEPs who are found eligible for services.
    When is the session:
    July 1-August 1 (no class July 4)
    Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    Where: Logan Elementary School

    Preschool Extended School Year (ESY) Services

    Who Can Enroll:
    Preschool students who are identified per their IEP.
    When is the session:
    July 1-August 1 (no class July 4)
    Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    Where: Westerman Preschool & Family Center

    Project Read

    Who Can Enroll:
    Teacher Consultant and Resource Room students – by teacher recommendation only.
    When is the session:
    July 1-August 1 (no class July 4)
    Monday-Friday, 9:00-10:30 am or 10:30 am–12:00 pm
    Where: Mitchell Elementary School

    Preschool to Kindergarten Transition

    Who Can Enroll:
    Preschool students with an IEP going to Kindergarten in Fall 2019
    When is the session:
    July 1-August 1 (no class July 4),
    Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
    Where: Mitchell Elementary School

  • Title I Summer School for Eligible Students*

    Current Young Five’s & Kindergarteners By invitation only

    Session 1: July 1 – July 19, 8:30 – 11:30 am
    Session 2: July 22 – August 2, 8:30 – 11:30 am

    Abbot: For Abbot and Lakewood students
    Mitchell: For Bryant and Mitchell students
    Haisley: For Dicken and Haisley students
    Carpenter: For Carpenter students
    Pittsfield: For Allen and Pittsfield students

    *Title I eligible students will be notified of their eligibility for the summer school.



    Summer Learning Institute at Scarlett

    AAPS & U of M School of Education Partnership

    Who Can Enroll:
    Title I eligible students currently in 5th, 6th, & 7th grade who are recommended by administration from the following schools: Allen, Burns Park, Carpenter, Mitchell, Pattengill, Pittsfield and Scarlett
    What is Being Taught:
    Targeted reading, math and writing
    When is the session:
    June24-July 16
    Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

    • End of Program Celebration: July 16, 6:00-8:00 pm

  • Summer ESL Academy at Scarlett

    SESLA, AAPS & UM School of Education Partnership

    Who Can Enroll:
    Title III eligible English Learner (EL) students currently in grades 3-7. EL students from the following schools may attend: Allen, Mitchell, Carpenter, Pittsfield, Dicken, Lakewood, Lawton, Abbot, Haisley, Wines, Burns Park, Angell, Pattengill, Scarlett and Tappan.
    What is Being Taught:
    Reading, writing and speaking English through an integrated science/social studies curriculum.

    When is the session:
    June 24-July 16
    Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

    Includes breakfast and lunch.

    • End of Program Celebration: July 16, 5:00-8:00 pm

    EL Transition Camp

    At Huron High School
    Enrollment: By recommendation of teacher or counselor

    Session 1: Monday-Wednesday, July 1-July 3
    8:00 am-2:30 pm, lunch 11:00-11:30 pm

    Session 2: Monday-Thursday, July 8-July 11
    8:00 am-12:00 pm, lunch 12:00-12:30 pm

  • Summer Music Program

    Who Can Enroll:
    All levels of instrumental music students, current grades 5-11

    What is being offered: Band, Drumline, Jazz, Orchestra, and New Instrument class
    When is the session:
    June 17-July 26 (no class July 4)

    Monday-Thursday
    Where:

    • Tappan MS, 2251 E. Stadium Blvd
    • Scarlett MS, 3300 Lorraine Street
    • Huron HS, 2727 Fuller

    Fee: $205. Online payment through Mypaymentsplus.com (preferred); if unable to pay online, please contact the AAPS Music Department at 734-994-2252.

    Summer GED Preparation Class

    Who Can Enroll:
    Anyone can enroll – you do not need to be a resident of Ann Arbor to participate

    When is the session:
    July 8-August 14
    Monday and Wednesday, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
    Registration: July 8, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm, Malletts Creek Library (1 day only)
    Where: Malletts Creek Library, 3090 E. Eisenhower Pkwy
    Fee: All classes and testing are free; $20 deposit for textbook
