I am Beth Carlson and I am honored to be one of the Facilitators for Ann Arbor Public Schools Adult Education. My career in education has spanned over 55 years of teaching elementary, middle, alternative, and adult students. Today, it is with great pleasure that I can work with our large, diverse group of adult students as well as with the amazing adult education team of teachers and staff. Our goal is to help all of our students achieve their educational goals.

Chuck Barbieri: ESL/Citizenship Teacher
Chuck Barbieri has been teaching English as a Second Language since 2008.
"I taught at 2 Universities in China- one in Chengdu and then at a Nursing College in Leshan, China. I spend my holidays in China teaching Tibetan homeless children English. I have also taught International graduate students basic academic English skills and have been a consultant in middle schools and high schools in Washtenaw County. I enjoy living in the country and spending time outside gardening and playing with pets!"

Debbie has worked for the Adult Ed program for over 10 years. Her avocation and passion is singing.
She is a 25-year member of the UMS Choral Union and a founding member of the Washtenaw Chorale.

Jane Deon: ESL Teacher
Jane Deon (M.Ed., MFA) has taught ESL classes with Ann Arbor Public Schools since 2022. Before joining AAPS, she taught ESL in high school and college in Boston, Massachusetts, and at private schools in Italy and Spain. She loves meeting students from all over the world and helping them reach their goals. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and traveling.

Cheryl Pieszchala: GED/E2020 Teacher
Cheryl Pieszchala not only teaches GED classes and High School Completion for Ann Arbor Schools, she also takes a genuine interest in each student and helps get them on a career or college pathway. She is kind, patient, and motivating. She has helped students of all ages and abilities throughout Washtenaw County obtain a credential and a renewed feeling of personal success.
