Advanced Placement (AP) Testing

The Ann Arbor Public Schools is pleased to offer 26 different Advanced Placement (AP) Exams. All students in grades 9-12 are eligible to take AP exams.

Information about AP Exams can be found on the College Board website: https://ap.collegeboard.org/

Do I need to take an AP test?

Although not required, most students who are enrolled in an AP course choose to pay for and take the AP exam at the end of their year of study. Students who are enrolled with A2 Virtual+ OR who wish to self-study for the AP exam also have the opportunity to register for AP exams using the exam-only codes. Reduced-price exams are available for eligible students. AP exams offer students the opportunity to attain scores that may earn them college credit (depending on the receiving institution).

AAPS is not currently accepting AP exam registrations from non-AAPS students.

Self-Study or Virtual Course AP Testing

Ann Arbor Public Schools offers AP testing to ALL of our high school students, whether they are enrolled in an AP course or not.  Students who wish to self-study or are taking an online AP course can register for the AP test with us utilizing our “Exam Only” testing course codes.  Students join these courses in their College Board portal just like any other AP course. Students must select their test indicator in the portal and make payment in MyPaymentsPlus just as they would for a traditional AP test.

“Exam Only” Course Join Codes (Available October 2025)
