Advanced Placement (AP) Testing

The Ann Arbor Public Schools is pleased to offer 32 different Advanced Placement (AP) Exams. All students in grades 9-12 are eligible to take AP exams. If your student is not interested in taking an AP Exam this year, please disregard this email.

For 2024-2025, exams will be administered in person and either be all digital or a hybrid of digital and traditional. Scheduling information and the exam format are available in the Exam Dates and Times file linked below.

Please note that all AP exams administered by AAPS take place on the specific date of the AP exam and at the site address below. Transportation is NOT provided by AAPS and is the responsibility of the AP student:

Eastern Michigan University Student Center

900 Oakwood St

Ypsilanti, MI 48197

Do I need to take an AP test?

Although not required, most students who are enrolled in an AP course choose to pay for and take the AP exam at the end of their year of study. Students who are enrolled with A2 Virtual+ OR who wish to self-study for the AP exam also have the opportunity to register for AP exams using the exam-only codes. Reduced-price exams are available for eligible students. AP exams offer students the opportunity to attain scores that may earn them college credit (depending on the receiving institution).

AAPS is not currently accepting AP exam registrations from non-AAPS students.

Exam Dates and Times

2025 AP exams will be administered from May 5 - May 16, 2025.

The dates and times of the AP exams AAPS is offering can be found by

Exam Payment/Registration - TWO STEPS REQUIRED

Students who want to take an AP exam in May 2025

MUST complete BOTH Steps Below

Step 1 - Payment

Pay for your exam(s) on the

MyPaymentsPlus website.

  1. Sign into https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/welcome

    1. Directions on how to create an account and link it to your child are found HERE

    2. You will need your student’s ID # for this step and must link your account to your child’s student # to ensure your order is processed properly

  2. Select “Ann Arbor Public Schools” (if needed)

  3. Click on “AP Testing”

  4. Click on the subject area and name of the exam you wish to take.

  5. Add exam to your cart

  6. If you are registering for additional AP exams, repeat steps 3 and 4 as needed

  7. When all exams have been added to the cart, click “Checkout”  to enter your payment details.

NOTE:  Students of families who qualify for reduced-price meals will automatically see a reduced fee in the My Payments Plus system based on their eligibility. Please contact Anthony Lauer, AP Testing Coordinator, at lauera@aaps.k12.mi.us if you believe you qualify but are not receiving a reduced rate.

Step 2 - Registration with Collegeboard:

Overview of the process:

Want help signing up? Here is a video of the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnbQXHNzUaM

Enroll in your AP course on the MyAP website.

  1. Sign in to myap.collegeboard.org and enter the join code for your teacher’s section.

Need Help with your College Board Account? Check here: https://support.collegeboard.org/help-center/account-help

  1. Enter your join code. If you do not have the "join code”, please ask your AP teacher for it.  Exam Only Join Codes are available here: AP Testing Exam Only Information for the 2024-2025 School Year

Please note, Exam-Only Codes are building specific. Students need to use the code from their assigned building.

  1. On the MyAP website, mark “YES” (instead of “Undecided”  or “NO”) to indicate you want to take the AP exam for each course you are enrolled in.

Note: Only students who mark “YES” in their account and complete payment in Mypaymentsplus will have an exam ordered. Individuals who only complete step one of the registration process will not have an exam ordered. Students who do not wish to take the exam must mark “Undecided” or “NO”.

Students who are taking an AP class through a school that is not their enrolled building, need to register for the AP classroom of their teacher and use an Exam-Only Code for their enrolled building. For these students, the exam should be ordered through the exam-only class and not through their AP classroom.

Note:  AAPS students who are enrolled with A2Virtual+, take their AP class through a different school,  OR who wish to self-study for an AP exam must use the “Exam Only Join Codes” found HERE.**

Both of the above steps must be completed before November 8, 2024 at 11:59 PM in order to receive regular pricing. A $40 late fee from the College Board will be assigned after this date. Students will not be able to change their testing indicator themselves after 11/8/24 at 11:59 PM.
