Advanced Placement (AP) Test Administration
Ann Arbor Public Schools is proud to offer students an off-site Advanced Placement (AP) testing experience designed to minimize distractions and support success across all 27 different AP exams. During the two-week AP testing window, AAPS will administer more than 3,000 exams.
This year, AP exams are categorized into three formats: Fully Digital, Hybrid, and Standard. While the testing location remains the same for all formats, some supporting details—such as arrival times and materials needed—differ slightly depending on the exam type. Exam categories are clearly outlined in the Arrival Times section below.

Steps to Complete Before Test Day
Please read each section thoroughly to be fully prepared for your AP exam(s).
Students who have been approved for the late testing administration will receive alternative location and arrival time information via email.
Arrival Times
Students need to arrive at the posted times below to complete registration, receive room assignments, receive the necessary materials and exam instructions to ensure they are ready for testing at the start of the test. Students will begin testing promptly at 8am for the morning exams and 12pm for the afternoon exams.
Students that arrive after the start of reading the instructions will not be able to test.

Required Items
Please plan to bring the following items to the exam administration:
- A government-issued or school-issued photo ID.
- Fully charged District Device and charging cord.
- College Board account login information.
- External wired mouse (optional).
- Mechanical watch (optional).
Fully Digital Exams
- Pencils or pens for taking notes on school-provided scratch paper.
- For AP Environmental Science: up to 2 calculators with the necessary capabilities.
Hybrid Exams
- 2 No. 2 pencils (with erasers) or 2 pens with black or dark blue ink.
- For an AP Physics Exam: a ruler or straightedge.
- Up to 2 calculators with the necessary capabilities.
Standard Exams
- 2 No. 2 pencils (with erasers)
- 2 pens with black or dark blue ink.
Prohibited Items
- Cellphones and Smart/Electronic Watches
- Electronic equipment of any kind except devices being used for digital AP Exams.
- All stylus pens, Apple pens, smart pens, iPad pencils, and other electronic writing instruments.
- Books, notebooks, compasses, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, or notes.
- Mechanical pencils, No. 3 pencils, or colored pencils.
- Rulers or straightedges (these are allowed only for Physics exams).
- Protractors.
- Scratch paper.
- Computers or calculators (except as previously noted).
- Reference guides, keyboard maps, or other typing instructions.
- Watches that beep or have an alarm.
- Food or drink.
- Clothing or shoes with subject-related information.
- New: Head coverings (hats, brimmed caps, hooded shirts etc.) are not permitted while testing. Head coverings worn for medical or religious reasons are permitted during testing provided they do not obstruct testing staff’s ability to view the test taker’s eyes and ears.
- Ear plugs or headphones.
- Clipboards.
- Privacy screens.
- Separate computer monitors.
- External keyboard.
Before Test Day
Complete the following before the day of the exam:
- Check your College Board Account to ensure you are registered to take the exam
- Restart your Chromebook
- Charge your Chromebook

- Login using your College Board Credentials
- Preview Your Test using the BlueBook App
Hybrid Exams

Standard Exams
- Ensure the following apps are installed on your Chromebook:
- Digital Audio Capture (DAC) App - French, German, Italian, Spanish, Music Theory
- ETS APCJ App - Chinese and Japanese
Exam Lengths
Students will start testing between 8 am and 9 am for morning exams and Noon and 1pmfor afternoon exams. The times below are for students testing under standard conditions. Students with an approved accommodation of +50% will be provided up to 1.5 times the amount of time indicated below. Students with an approved accommodation of +100% will be provided up to twice the amount of time indicated below.
